Nigeria Twitter Ban Survey
Nigeria Banned Twitter from operating on the 5th June 2021. We want to access if there is any impact on users.
Since Twitter was shut down in Nigeria on June 5, businesses of all sorts, from banks to startups, rely on social media for customer service and dispute resolution. The restriction also affects businesses and suppliers that acquire awareness through social media campaigns and viral tweets, as well as content creators and marketers who have made a career out of conducting these campaigns.
It is estimated that the ban has impacted roughly 104.4 million internet users in the country and cost the country around $366.9 million, according to Top10VPN, a British VPN service provider. Using a program developed by Netblocks and Internet Society, a US advocacy group, the firm calculated the costs. According to Brookings Institution, the tool is based on comparable approaches employed by other US research institutions.
The survey is for only those who have a Twitter account.
